The doctor continues, telling him about a study that was not told to the public for the fear of what many would think, or say. This study showed that under high stress and physical abuse of puppies, these defenseless animals are able to produce cocoamone in the brain. All of this torture, just to kill these animals for gustatory pleasure, seems just as bad as the puppy example mentioned before. If just one person is able to stop eating farm raised meat and go vegan, the chance of others becoming vegan because of that one person is greater. In the future, that one person may be the cause of a bigger change. The more people stop eating meat, the fewer animals will be tortured and killed for their meat. If we humans were to put ourselves in the positions of the animals, we would not be fond of the whole process of farm raising meat. Meat is not a necessity. Many other foods can give the same nutrients and the same pleasure meat can, without allowing harm to come to any animals. Giving up meat will not only help the quality of life in animals, but it will also help the quality of life in humans. Humans will seek more vegetables, legumes, beans, and seeds as a source of protein. But overall, the most important thing to remember is that the life of innocent animals is more important than the simple pleasures of humans, and therefore we should act morally, fair, and just. Humans should have compassion and care towards innocent animals; creatures that cannot for their own sake, help themselves.

This came as both a relief and a scare to me even though I had longed for this immeasurably. Having spent my early years in school studying the ambiguous Chinese calligraphy and writing using the ancient pen, the moc, a light pen came and basic alphabet relieved my labored brain and fingers. The transition into the American ways was tough as well as it was discouraging, but I never lost my motivation to learn them. My mothers vigilance in raising me up, fellow students ardency in recognizing my mistakes and the support of my enthusiastic teacher, Ms. Jones, encircled the tough transition into the American culture. I had to adjust to the less congested schedule of the new school I was now a part of with different ethnicities to interact with daily. The various stereotypes that came with being a Chinese person manifested in me immensely having known other culture beforehand. The use of articles in sentences had to be hammered into my speech by the various jives and mocking that left me humiliated. The confidence I bore at this point came only from the fleeting moments when I shone in the Mathematics and Physics class that left all the other students jealous of my comprehension of these relatively challenging subjects. The first day of school was a memorable one owing to the dramatic flair with which I made my entrance into the class. The students built an inescapable hell for me during the early days, long enough until I found a way to integrate into their ways of living. The accent, dressing and ever-present, conservative mother gave my fellow student a limitless avenue to make fun of me. This made me cry on most of the days, but with time adaptation set in and I turned all the ridicule into a perquisite. I also enjoyed the fun that they made of me while I came to understand the mentality of the various cultures. This decimated the number of jokes that were thrown my way, and led to the acceptance of my culture with time. Nonetheless, the final assimilation into the cultures of America came with a relief and also with a sense of guilt. The segregation from my culture left me with a sense of emptiness, but the acceptance by my peers came with a satisfaction that a young person so craves for in his/ her youthful years.

I’ll say this; microwave oven heats your foods but also destroys your health. As the microwave heats up, it sends of radiation inside and out. Your foods become polluted with radiation and if you’re too close to it you as well. Who likes eating cold food? I mean we all like food nice and hot, so we should have a microwave oven in our houses. I personally can’t go without a microwave. It one of my favorite scientific inventions. One of the most used scientific inventions would be the motor vehicle. Now this is brilliant! The motor vehicle or should I say, cars are very common to our modern day lives. EVERYBODY has one. Well if you have a license of course. Now cars are a complex piece of machinery. It’s like you’re basically holding a fully loaded gun. Almost every day there is an accident that occurs. We may not see it, but it happens. People get greatly injured or even die from car accidents. On the positive side, cars do have its advantages. People use cars to transport themselves around. It takes you from one place to another. Instead of having to walk, you drive. Another thing about cars, it pollutes the air badly. This is so because cars give off a great deal of smoke sometimes. Introduction Expansion devices are basic components of a refrigeration system which carry out two major purposes: (1) the pressure reduction from the condenser to evaporator pressure and (2) the regulation of refrigerant flow into the evaporator. These expansion devices can be generally classified into two types which are namely the fixed opening type (flow area is fixed) and the variable opening type (flow area changes correspondingly with a change in mass flow rates).There are about seven basic types of expansion devices for a refrigerant in a refrigeration system. These include capillary tubes and orifice which are under the fixed opening type and the manual expansion valves, automatic expansion valve (AEV), thermostatic expansion valve (TEV), electronic expansion valve and float type expansion valve which are all under the variable opening type. The float type expansion valve is further classified into high side float valve and low side float valv e (Arora, 2006).One of the most commonly used expansion device is the capillary tube. Objectives The exercise was conducted to familiarize the students with expansion devices, its functions and its importance. Specifically, the objectives were: 1. ) to examine the construction of some commonly-used expansion devices; and 2. ) to assess the performance of some commonly-used expansion devices. III. Methodology A. Lab-Scale Refrigeration System A lab-scale set-up for a refrigeration system in the refrigeration laboratory was observed for the effects of expansion devices on the pressures at various points within the system.Three different types of expansion devices which are namely the capillary, constant-pressure and thermostatic expansion devices are activated by opening their corresponding valves. The reading at each of the five pressure reading points was recorded for every 2 to 3 minutes until they become stable. An image of the observed set- Page 2 of 4 up was taken and the locations of the pressure-reading points were labelled. See Appendix A for the image. B. Computation: Capillary Tube For the stabilized values of the condenser and evaporator pressures measured, the required theoretical length of the capillary tube was computed.The results were then compared with the actual length of the capillary tube observed in the laboratory. See Appendix B for the value of the computed and measured length of capillary tube. IV. Answers to Questions 1. In the computation part above, is there a discrepancy between the actual and the calculated length of capillary tube? Explain. Based on Table 1, there is a discrepancy between the computed and measured value of the capillary tube. First, it must be noted that throughout the computation, assumptions were made.Upon realizing the difficulty of obtaining a value for the mass flow rate, a reasonable value of it was assumed. This could affect the obtained theoretical length of capillary tube since some of the parameters involved in the computation require its use. Simply said, the theoretical length would either increase or decrease depending on the assumed value but never equal to the actual length, unless the same mass flow rate completely applies to the actual system (which might not really be the case).This is the same explanation behind the other assumed parameters. Additionally, the measurement of quantities necessary for computing the length of capillary tube is also subject to many possible errors. This may include errors due to the limitation of the instruments or devices or due to some human inflicted errors. This paper will examine three such books, comparing the description of the Vietnam War in all the books. The Vietnam War was a memorable event in the history of the US. A People's History of the United States In the book, A People’s History of the United States, Zinn presents the history of the Vietnam War in a simplistic manner that common people can appreciate. Zinn provides this history through the eyes of the common folk instead of the economic and political elite. For instance, he focuses on the US citizens’ resistance to the Vietnam War, as well as the people of North Vietnam who though deemed insignificant, were able to defeat the US-backed South. Zinn terms the US involvement in the Vietnam War as a mission in futility. He exemplifies that regardless of its military and technology superiority, the US was unable to defeat Northern Vie tnamese whose main weapon was human strength and tactical thinking capacity. According to Zinn, US victory in Vietnam was impossible because North Vietnamese dejected colonial imperialism after Japan’s failed attempt to capture Indochina. He argues that the US was fighting a war it could not win. This is because the people of Vietnam favored the government led by Ho Chi Minh and were against Ngo Dinh Diem’s regime. This allowed the people of Vietnam to maintain high morale throughout the war. On the other hand, morale among US military fighters in Vietnam was quite low because most of the American soldiers revolted against the atrocities they inflicted, like the My Lai massacre. Zinn describes the Vietnam War as a war between â€Å"the wealthiest and most powerful nation in global history† and â€Å"a nationalist, revolutionary movement in a peasant nation†. This description paints the picture of a fight akin to a cat and mouse fight where the insignifica nt revolutionary people fought against a mighty nation such as the US. Normally, one would expect that the stronger party in the fight wins, but in the Vietnam War, Zinn asserts that it is the small, insignificant humans who won against the technology of the US. In addition, Zinn speaks of the impact the US citizens had on the culmination of the Vietnam War. Zinn talks of the impact of the US movement against the Vietnam War as having, â€Å"played a critical part in bringing the war to an end†. Nonetheless, Zinn attempts to dispel the common belief that US opposition to the Vietnam War was amongst college students and intellectuals from the middle class. He uses statistics from the war period to show evidence that considerable opposition also came from the US working class. For instance, poet Robert Lowell refused to attend a luncheon at the White House, while singer Eartha Kitt spoke out against the war in the presence of the first lady. Zinn maintains the stance that it is the common people that brought change in Vietnam. The assertion â€Å"the revolutionists fought against the Japanese† and defeated the superior nation speaks of the impact of Vietnamese on the going on within their country.
